Community Leader/ Public Administrator/ Business Professional
Ms. Alaysia S. Mitchell is a 31-year old community leader, public administrator, and business professional. She was born in Long Island, NY and relocated as a teen with her parents and younger siblings to Fairview Heights in 2009. Ms. Mitchell graduated from Belleville East High School in 2010, attended both Eastern Illinois University and Southern Illinois University, respectively, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a minor in Pre-Law. She is currently enrolled as a graduate student in the Master of Public Administration program at Webster University with an anticipated graduation date of May 2025. Ms. Mitchell is also a mother of two children; Elijah, 8 years old and Li’Auri, 3 years old.
During her undergraduate career, Ms. Mitchell dedicated her additional time outside of her studies, to taking leadership roles and earning membership into on-campus organizations such as:
-Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity - General Member 2011-present

-Black Student Union - Secretary 2011, Academic Affairs Chair 2012, Ms. Black EIU Scholarship Pageant Queen 2013

-National Association of Colored Women’s Clubs, Women Improving Lives Chapter - Charter Member 2014-present
After her undergraduate career, Ms. Mitchell continued her civic engagement by embarking on 10 years of professional experience working in the fields of business administration, wealth management, public administration, higher education, and non-profit leadership. Over the years she’s gained her professional experience working at various organizations, firms, and institutions such as Wells Fargo Advisors, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, HealthVisions Midwest, The United Way of Greater St. Louis, Lutheran Hour Ministries, the Housing Authority of the City of East St. Louis, and even our own City of Fairview Heights. While working as an Administrative Assistant for the City of Fairview Heights, she supported the Mayor’s Office, Administration Department, and the Economic Development Department.
Mitchell has an invested interest in the educational systems,the health and wellness, and the public safety in Fairview Heights and its surrounding areas. For these reasons and more, Ms. Mitchell actively participates in community service events. Her most recent contributions to community service include:
-Packaging, distributing, and directing traffic during the Thanksgiving Turkey Day event hosted by the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis - (November 2021)
-Donating childrens clothing during a Donation drive hosted by St. Clair County Alpha Beta Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated (May 2022)
-Packaging play pens for donation to low income families with Nurses for Newborns (June 2022)
-Assisting with completing registration forms and providing on-site directory assistance to attendees at the Multi-Agency Resource Center Flood Relief. (August 2022)
Committed to serving her community, Ms. Alaysia Mitchell is an advocate for evidence based equitable solutions, modernized economic development, and residential community engagement. Ms. Mitchell firmly believes in providing civil service in a manner which emphasizes her true-to-life commitment to integrity, transparency, and service. Ms. Mitchell states, the reason “why” she does all of this…is to be a voice for the voiceless. She firmly believes in the quote “Be the change you wish to see in the world”.
